Muslim Aid’s UK Feed The Fasting featured on BBC’s 6 o’clock news.

While we were distributing food parcels to the needy, the BBC asked our CEO, Khalid Javid, a poignant question:

“Muslim Aid was established nearly 40 years ago in response to the Ethiopia famine. Did you ever think that Muslim Aid would be needing to help its own here in London?” presenter Barry Caffrey asked.

“No,” Khalid responded.

“It’s simple as.”

Muslim Aid’s UK Feed The Fasting project was proudly featured on BBC’s 6 o’clock news (13 March 2024).

This project was delivered in collaboration with Eurofoods who kindly donated food parcels for the second year in a row after recognising the need to bring our Feed The Fasting project to the UK to combat the cost-of-living crisis. The first of this year's distribution took place at East London Mosque.

While we're known for helping millions across the world, Muslim Aid has a strong track record of Serving Humanity at home in the UK.

Over the years, our UK programmes have included food distributions, supporting food banks, UK winter campaigns, and supporting vulnerable people with draft-proofing initiatives. We also responded to the 2015 UK floods, delivered a UK prisoner support programme, and supported newly arrived and existing refugees.

We responded to the tragic Grenfell fire in West London, being one of the first charities on site distributing food, water and clothing. Our response cumulated in the production of a report titled ‘Mind The Gap’ which reviewed and assessed the voluntary sector’s response to the tragedy.

More recently, we were one of the first charities to respond to Storm Henk in Leicester. At the time, Kelly from Loughborough told us that she was overwhelmed by the community support after we arrived to support the most vulnerable.

Thank you to the BBC for recognising our work. We pray you continue to support us as we Serve Humanity at home and abroad.

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
