Muslim Aid calls for reinstating funding to UNRWA

Muslim Aid calls for reinstating funding to UNRWA

It is unfortunate that 11 donor countries suspended aid to UNRWA considering its potentially catastrophic impact on the Palestinian people in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Gaza, which even before the current bombing campaign, had 81.5 percent of its population living below the poverty line, is experiencing a humanitarian catastrophe. This hasty action will only increase the suffering of the people of Gaza. Currently there are over 30,000 deaths in Gaza, more than half of which are women and children.

The allegations against UNRWA staff must be investigated thoroughly without risking cutting lifesaving aid for the people of Gaza.

Muslim Aid is reinstating its calls for a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza and is calling for the opening of humanitarian corridors to save lives and urges the 11 states to thoroughly reexamine their decision.

We are a faith-based British international charity that provides help to people who are victims of natural disasters or conflict or suffering from poverty, hunger, disease, homelessness, injustice, deprivation or lack of skills and economic opportunities.
